Tribhuvan University Service Commission :

 The University has its own Service Commission headed by Chairman. The main responsibility of the Service Commission are to hold competitive examinations and interviews for applicants wishing to enter university service and to recommend the successful candidates for appointment to positions of teaching and administration.


Tribhuvan University  is one of the oldest University of Nepal. It is providing different sector disciplines to thousands of Students. Tribnuvan University Service Commission (TU Sewa Aayog) is one who is responsible for the recruitment of new staff to the Tribhuvan University. It takes exam of the new staff and takes interview and recruits the staff necessary for Tribhuvan University.

Recruitment / How to join the service of Tribhuvan University :

As other organizations, in Tribhuvan University also there will be vacancy announcement on the vacant post and the post is fulfilled by Internal Recruitment or by Open Competiton. Tribhuvan University recruits employees in two services. 

a. Teaching Service

b. Administration Service. 

Tribhuvan Service = Teaching Service + Administration Service. 

The recruitment process will be by examining Education Qualification, Work Performance, Interview etc. For internal competition there be calculation of work experience and time period which they served. 

Tribhuvan University uses the inclusive development method for both services in the entry level.

In this way, the recruitment process is done. 


Inclusion development method in both services:

For the inclusion development method it calculates the 45% of the total vacancy. Taking the 45% as 100% the inclusion method is calculated as listed below. 

a. Female                        23 %

b. Janajati                        27 %

c. Madhesi                        22 %

d. Dalit                                9 %

e. Apanga                            5 %

f. Deprived Group             4 %

                                          100 %

If you get job in Tribhuvan University then there will be high chance of reaching in high position. You can go in competition internally or in Open competition. If you donot pass the internal or Open exam then you may be promoted internally without any competition. 

If you are recruited for the first time then after entering the job then you will have no chance to get the inclusion development. You must go in competition openly. 


Secruity of the Service :

There will be security of Service for both Teaching and Administration staff throughout their job life. None of the staff's salary, Pension and Gratuity will be changes in the future without his/her permission though there will be amendment of law in the future. 

Transfer :

You can transfer to any of the office if there is vacant post. Just you have to follow the rules of Tribhuvan University service while transferring.

a. Home Leave                    b. Pregnant leave Or Pregnant Care Leave                c. Sick Leave

d. Festival Leave                e. Funeral Leave                                                                  f. Reading Leave

Salary, wages and other facilities :

The staff entering the job will get their salary from the day of recruitment according to their post. 

Staff will get salary before five days end of the month.


Festival Bonus:

The staff will get the Festival Bonus according to their main festival which they celebrate. 

The festival bonus will be equal to the salary they get in a month. 

Festival bonus is provided once in a year. 

for eg; If you celebrate Dashain they you will get the bonus in Dashain Festival. 


Retirement, Gratuity and Pension:

Each staff can be retired after minimum service of 20 years work service. 

There will be one Pension Fund which provide Gratuity or Pension.

In the Pension Fund 10% of the monthly salary is contributed monthly and same amount is added by Tribhuvan University Service and deposit in the Pension Fund. 

From now onward if you are recruited in the Tribhuvan University Service then you will get Gratuity or Pension according to the rules of the Fund.
